Hollywood Pulls Back From Meghan Markle After Kardashian Photo Drama
Meghan's Photo Drama With the Kardashian Clan Has Celebrities Wary
Meghan Markle is not having it easy in Hollywood, especially after the Kardashian-Jenner scandal. While insiders reported that Prince Harry and Markle got along well with Kris Jenner and the Kardashian clan during the momager's 007-themed 70th birthday bash, the real drama happened after the night had ended. Making a surprise appearance at the party, the duo mingled with the masses and even clicked photos with everyone, following which Jenner and Kim Kardashian shared a carousel on their Instagram. However, soon enough, while the carousel remained, the Sussex-specific photos got deleted. Why, you ask? Well, again, it was Markle to blame and not the Kardashians.
The Missing Photo
According to a report by TMZ, the actual reason why Kardashian and Jenner deleted the photo was out of respect for Remembrance Sunday. The party was on the same day as Remembrance Sunday, and while the couple was happy to be a part of the celebration, they did not want the photographs to be shared. “We’re told they thought it might be better to delete the images rather than push something that could get picked up and misconstrued across the pond," shared the TMZ report. The issue is now resolved, but it has brutally hit Markle's social standing.
Hollywood Hesitation
The photo incident left many scarred and scared of disrespect that might come along with their association with Markle. Highlighting the same, Variety's Matt Donnelly told The Royalist with Tom Sykes and The Daily Beast, "So I think to me, that's a microcosm of what it's like for established show-business people who probably want to be welcoming to the son of a beloved figure like Diana, to someone who does so much for mental health, for someone who is a big supporter and founder."
Rising Unease
Explaining the situation, he said, "I believe in the Invictus Games. But these are the kind of situations you find yourself in. You know what I mean? That even extending a simple social invite turns into a five-car PR pile-up." Sykes continued, "So I think that to me is quite demonstrative of what it's like to even do the most minimal, like the lowest bar possible, socializing with these two. So imagine what it's like to be in business with them."
Clarifications
Later, Kim, during her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, addressed the fiasco, explaining that they initially were allowed to post the picture by Markle and Harry, but later, on evaluating the timing, the royals decided otherwise. She said, "And then after it was posted, I think they realized it was Remembrance Day, and they didn’t want to be seen at a party, even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down. And then I think they realized, like, ‘Oh, this was so silly.’” While the explanation was simple, it left Markle panicking.
Panic Call
Rob Shuter on his Substack shared that after Kim's podcast, Markle made a “full-blown panic call” to Jenner. “Meghan panicked the moment she realized Kim wasn’t spinning the story,” shared an insider with him. They added, “Kim made it sound simple, casual, and optics-based—and Meghan hated that." The source explained, “Kim’s version made it sound like Meghan hadn’t fully thought it through, and that is Meghan’s nightmare."
