In a stunning display of honor and friendship, the royal couple were welcomed with a parade, a band, and a fly past ceremony at the White House on their second day, hosted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

The official event was marred by sudden rains, but that did not deter the crowds from waiting to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. Royal fans awaited the arrival of the monarchs in the rain, with a protective cover over the podium at the White House. As soon as King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived, the downpour subsequently stopped.

Trump showed his sense of humor during his 12-minute address, and he joked that it was a "beautiful British day" at the beginning of his speech, seemingly referring to the rainy weather, which made the crowd giggle. Trump went on to praise King Charles, saying, "He's a very elegant man," with "the noble spirit of the British." He then continued to joke, the King's speech to Congress later is "going to make everyone very envious of that beautiful accent." "That understanding of our nations' unique bond and role in history is the essence of our special relationship, and we hope it will always remain that way," he said, referring to the royal visit. Trump also shared an adorable secret on how his Scottish-born mother had a crush on young Charles and thought the then-prince was “cute.”

Trump praised Queen Elizabeth as a “very special woman” during the ceremonial welcome speech for the King and Queen. He highlighted the bond between the US and the UK, reminiscing about his privilege of knowing the Queen and mentioning the tree that she planted, which has grown beautifully over time. Trump emphasized her lasting impact and how she is missed on both sides of the Atlantic.

After Trump's remarks, the King and Queen, along with the First Lady, ascended the steps to the balcony overlooking the White House South Lawn to watch a flyover and troops marching below. Later in the day, King Charles is set to address the Congress in a historic moment. It marks only the second instance of such a speech since Queen Elizabeth II in 1991, amidst challenging global geopolitics and strained relations.
