William and Kate Are Hiring for a Surprising New Role
William and Kate Are in Search of a New Staffer
In an era where a single post holds the power to shape public perception, it’s not unusual for royalty to amp up their social media game. It turns out Prince William and Kate Middleton have a vacancy for a surprising new role in their team. The move has been suggested as an attempt by the royal couple to lean towards influencer-style storytelling, perhaps to better connect with today's youth.
Digital Duties

As per Marie Claire, a job listing posted under the Royal Vacancies website has recently come to light. Within the Royal Household of Prince and Princess of Wales category, the post stated they are looking for a 'Digital Content Creator' to work with the Head of Digital and Social Media to “deliver digital content and storytelling” on their online channels. As per the description, the perfect candidate should be “calm and diplomatic” as well as a “team player” and must have “an ability to think creatively.” It also revealed that the successful applicant should “exercise tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.”
Influencer Energy
The job opening revealed that it won’t merely be a behind-the-scenes editing role. The potential candidate will be “developing new and creative ideas for content” for all of the Waleses' social media handles, “with a particular focus on how to appeal to younger audiences through the use of organic content.” While the royal couple is already quite active on Instagram, with multiple reels, posts, and stories, the tone of the ad suggests they wish to evolve their online presence and even expand onto platforms like TikTok, known for being popular among youngsters. The pair seems to be inching towards modern relevance without compromising royal decorum.
Crew Grows
The hire seems to be a part of a broader staffing evolution in the Wales family. As the year began, William and Middleton also recruited a Senior Communications Officer and a new Press Relations Manager, solidifying what the list has described as their 'Head of Digital and Social Media team' with a separate Communications Team, Assistant Private Secretaries, and the Visits and Events team. When compared to the tight-knit support system that surrounded them in the early years of marriage, the current structure is notably more robust, perhaps indicating preparation for much larger responsibilities ahead as future monarch.
Future Focused Framework
While such growth is telling of natural organizational development, it also suggests strategic positioning. As next in line to ascend the throne, the Waleses have their mind set on building what many observers have perceived to be a more streamlined but comprehensive professional operation. Boosting their digital and communications apparatus now could help define their voice before it’s finally time for them to rule as King and Queen.
Humbling Home Life
Yet, behind the polished posts and expanding teams, their private lives remain unintentionally understated. In the book New King, New Court, Royal biographer, Robert Hardman wrote, “The couple did not seek to boost the staff numbers at Adelaide Cottage, not least because there would be little room to do so. Reports that the Prince was hiring a valet were knocked back.” He shared that while the Kensington Palace team has a 'yeoman,' who is a “multi-tasking attendant who looks after everything from luggage to uniforms,” the staff has no 'gentleman’s gentleman' and 'certainly no butler.' In his book, one source even explained, “It's very much them at home with the kids.” Even as their public-facing team expands, their domestic principles remain refreshingly grounded as ever.
